Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: Current celebrities (like musicians, actors/actresses, athletes) set a good example as role models for young people?

I definitely agree with the statement mainly because firstly, following the celebrities enables young kids to learn some practical skills in different fields, like when learning how to play the piano from watching the videos of a great musician, kids may learn how to move their fingers with the right melody and rhythm. Gradually, by practicing, they may be good at it and one day become a great pianist. Secondly, following the celebrities will be helpful to improve young kids’ personalities. Mostly celebrities can succeed because they are so diligent and persistent. So young people may admire and imitate their behaviors and learn how to be patient and stick to their dreams, especially when they're faced with difficulties and challenges. Gradually they will become more strong-willed.

I disagree with the statement mainly because firstly, many people become famous for talent, beauty, or luck, not for their characters, wisdom, or moral integrity. A young athlete might be an incredible player but have poor sportsmanship; or a musician might create beautiful art but promote unhealthy lifestyles. Obviously, being famous does not equate to being a good person. Secondly, Social media and PR teams create highly polished, but often unrealistic images of those celebrities. Young people see the luxury, the success, and the glamour without seeing the hard work, struggles, or negative consequences. That possibly set unrealistic expectations for life, success, and body images.

Gradually, they may be good at it and explore their talents well. Secondly. having the celebrities to be models can help develop the kids’ personality. Most celebrities do some charity like donating their money to kids in poor families for the education fee. If they do something meaningful and helpful, young generation will probably admire and imitate their behaviors. Gradually they will become more warm-hearted and generous, it's really beneficial for kids’ growth.
