眼下,无论是孩子还是成年人,学习英语的热情都持续高涨,各种培训机构火热起来,不仅优质外教资源稀缺,课程价格也居高不下,新闻界对外教管理问题也特别关注。
近日,《中国日报》记者针对社会上的一些热点问题采访了新航道国际教育集团首席人力资源官杨明老师和新航道国际教育集团外籍教师负责人Chris Allen, 并连续发布了两篇报道。
新航道国际教育集团首席人力资源官杨明老师指出,新航道严格遵守国家有关外国工作许可的相关规定,无论工作能力多么,只要不符合国家的相关规定,新航道是不会聘请他们的。
Yang Ming, chief human resources officer at New Channel International Education Group in Beijing, said the company strictly follows the regulations related to foreign experts' work permits, and those who fail to meet the requirements are not hired, irrespective of their teaching prowess.

“这项规定对于所有公司而言,都是底线。任何公司都不应该非法雇佣外籍教师。”杨明老师说。
"The regulation is the red line for all companies, and none of them should cross it to hire foreign teachers illegally," he said.
此外,新航道国际教育集团还制定了自己的外籍教师管理规定。例如,给予迟到或早退的教师100至2000元不等的罚款,并且他们必须为自己的所作所为向学生道歉。在上课期间,所有的外籍教师都不能吸烟、饮酒、吃口香糖或玩手机。
In addition, New Channel has imposed its own regulations to oversee foreign teachers. For example, those who are late for class or leave early will receive a fine ranging from 100 to 2,000 yuan and they must apologize to their students. Moreover, they should refrain from smoking, drinking, chewing gum or playing with their cellphone during class, Yang said.
公司的管理层成员会随机检查外籍教师的上课情况,助教老师也会让学生对这些外籍教师的表现进行评价和反馈。
Members of the management randomly inspect classes to monitor foreign teachers' performances, and assistants ask students to provide feedback about teachers, he said.
“找到优质的外籍教师成本高昂并且非常困难,但是我们愿意承担这样的成本,因为我们只想聘请的教师,从而让我们的学员接受到质的教育。”杨明说。
"It is difficult and costly to find qualified foreign teachers, yet we are willing to shoulder the cost and employ only the best to give our students a good education," Yang said.
新航道国际教育集团外籍教师负责人Chris Allen认为,以英语为母语的人显然会更熟悉英语,无论是在语法方面,还是在发音方面。因此,他们自然能够更好地掌握这门语言。
Chris Allen, manager of international teachers at New Channel International Education Group's school in Beijing, said a native speaker will obviously be more familiar with their mother tongue and will naturally have a better command of the language, whether in terms of grammar or pronunciation.

与外国人对话有助于学生更加流利的表达,并了解以英语为母语的人如何在教科书之外真正地使用英语。
Speaking to a non-Chinese person also helps students become accustomed to people from overseas and learn how native speakers really use English outside of textbooks, the British national said.
在英国,每一个教师在受聘之前,接受背景调查是常态(如有关犯罪记录的背景调查等)。Chris表示,这种情况是随处可见的。
In the United Kingdom, background checks, such as those regarding a criminal record, are the norm before teachers are employed. That situation should be the same everywhere, according to Allen.
“如果成年人在工作中会与未成年人接触,我们需要确保那些儿童和年轻人是安全的,无论这个老师是什么国籍。”他说。
"If adults are in contact with minors at work, we need to ensure that those children and young people are safe, no matter what nationality the teacher is," he said.
